Even if the the congregation is full of pew-sitters and grouses, and I’m not saying that this is the case for any particular congregation, there is always a remnant who will hold each other accountable and hold each other up. These are the ones who want God to develop them as followers, who have committed themselves to God for safekeeping, and who pay close attention to his ways. They want to develop as a band of happy warriors who walk by the Spirit and love by the Spirit. They want to develop into a complete unity, characterized by the agreement and concord of persons who maintain diversity while gathering around Jesus in unity. They want to understand the implications of the fact that Jesus is not only God with us but also God who has become like us.
