We’re Not God.

The more deeply we look into God’s creation, the more deeply we realize our contingency.

The past few years I have skimmed the surface of quantum theory. I make no claims to understand it, but it has taught me something about reality and wasn’t nearly as clear before my dabbling: Creation is perplexing, and humanity is perplexed about it. Indeed, the deeper we look, the more we realize that creation resists our awesome powers of pattern recognition. The deeper we look, the more creation returns to us conflicting results that add to our perplexity.

None of this means we should cease our wondering. After all, God gave us curiosity and intellect to bring him glory. So, let us ask questions and search for answers. But let us also be extremely aware of our own contingency and God’s ultimacy.
