Lessons for me from the sermon on Hebrews 6:13-20:

God has made a sure promise in Christ, a promise that is already in our hands though it may seem distant. The promise is guaranteed in truth from the God of truth and stands as both already and not yet.

The promise in Christ rests on completely reliable ground giving all who trust him a secure place to stand clear way to God made possible by the obedience of Christ. The place and way of this promise are secure.

Because the promise in Christ is sure and secure, those who trust him are able to hold fast to the hope they have, or they are grasping about which is certain and that which has a sure content and a certain end. With a hope anchored in the holy of holies in heaven, those who trust Christ have been made capable of holding fast to that hope, a hope which is Christ himself.
