This post is a Musing. Musings are the first tiny bits of understanding made visible and public.
Key Idea: Diversity develops when a community with a shared commitment to a worthy center and shared service to a worthy purpose intentionally respects and secures the God-designed variations across community members, thereby forming and strengthening connectedness and openly shining the manifold glory of the one Creator, Lord, and Deliverer.
Diversity develops when a community of persons with a shared commitment to a center and shared service to a purpose intentionally respects and secures the God-designed variations across members. Such a community values others actively, showing respect as a way of life. The community members work to keep their fellow members’ distinctiveness in working order.
Respecting and securing the God-designed variations across members forms and strengthens connectedness in the community because connections are shared mutuality. Mutuality is an inherent linkage. The connections are not mechanical fasteners but affectional bonds of kinship that function soul-to-soul.
Respecting and securing the God-designed variations across members openly shines God’s manifold glory. The amazing diversity of God’s Creation reveals his glory. The amazing diversity of the people of God and the ministry assignments he has given them show God’s glory. God’s glory is a beautiful harmony, and so is Creation’s reflection of it. Practicing diversity honors and maintains the specificities God designed into Creation. Practicing diversity as a community creates a space where God’s people enjoy real connections that reflect the manifold glory of the Creator, Lord, and Deliverer of all.
